How long
does my SWE membership last?
Paid SWE National membership dues are
based on the fiscal year which runs from July 1st to June 30th. For
example, if you pay for membership in April, you will be asked to renew
in July.

How do I
become a member and what does it mean to be a member of SWE (National)
or SWE UWM?
To become a member of SWE National you
can join online using the link at the bottom of this page.
Participation in SWE UWM events is free (unless otherwise noted).
SWE is composed of three primary parts. First, SWE National, the
governing figurehead to the entire organization with elected officials.
Second, Professional Sections, local or regional sections of
professionals. Then third, Collegiate Sections, located and designated
specifically for and at universities and colleges nationwide.
After purchasing an annual National membership, 20% of your dues will
return to our section for funding assistance, thus it is important to
our section that we gain as many members as possible. As a paid member
you will have access to scholarships, conferences, online resume
databases, be able to put SWE on your resume, and become an officer of
our local section.
YES! We welcome men who support the SWE
Mission and feel they can benefit from our organization. Collegiate
sections must maintain a membership majority of women.

What kind of
commitment is SWE?
As much of one as you want it to be! As
a member of SWE you may choose your role of general member, committee
member or officer. General members are participants, committee members
assist with the planning processes of the UWM section, and officers are
elected leaders who guide the section.
SWE UWM will hold 1-5 events per month at different times and with
different focuses. Our events will typically last 1-2 hours and may be
on or off campus. You can find out more about our events
here. Participation is not required at any
event.
